Koen Byttebier is a full-time professor of economic and financial law (VUB) and the promotor of the VUB Fund for Research about the values of the socioeconomic order. He has authored numerous journal articles and books. His most recent publications to a large extent deal with the underlying ethics of the socio-economic order, with the most important ones being Towards a New International Monetary Order (Springer, 2017); The Unfree Market and the Law (Springer, 2018); The Tools of Law that Shape Capitalism (Springer, 2019); and How economics became the problem (2021; VUBPRESS).  Besides his academic activities, Koen Byttebier is also a lawyer at the Bar of Ghent.
