He served as president of the university for many years until his retirement. He has also published several books, some together with Hansjörg Herr. His main research areas are macroeconomics, European integration and regional economics.Hansjörg Herr was a professor of “Supranational Integration” at the Berlin School of Economics and Law (Germany) and was one of the founders of the Global Labour University.
