This book presents in detail the negotiations on the budget of the European Union, which take place every seven years, and discusses the central elements of the European budget system. The author explains the different interests and the resulting distributional conflicts, traces the genesis of this highly complex system of inflows and reflows, and sheds particular light on German European policy. The volume has been thoroughly revised, updated and expanded following the conclusion of the negotiations on the EU budget 2021-27.
