Rainer Quitzow leads the research group Geopolitics of Energy and Industrial Transformation at the Research Institute for Sustainability, Helmholtz Centre Potsdam. He has published widely on the policy and politics of energy transitions with a global perspective. He is also Professor of Innovation and Sustainability at Technische Universität Berlin. Before his research career, he worked at the World Bank in Washington DC. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin. Yana Zabanova is a Research Associate at the Research Institute for Sustainability – Helmholtz Centre Potsdam (RIFS Potsdam). Her areas of expertise include the geopolitics and geoeconomics of the energy transition in the European Union and globally, with a special focus on EU hydrogen policy. She is also a PhD candidate at the University of Groningen and is working on a dissertation on advocacy coalitions for renewable energy and clean hydrogen development in Eurasian oil and gas producing countries.
