Brian Copenhaver, who studies and teaches the history of philosophy and science, is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Philosophy and History at UCLA. He was educated at Loyola College, Creighton University, the University of Kansas and the Warburg Institute of the University of London. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Science and has been a Fulbright Scholar, a Fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies, a Guggenheim Fellow and a Getty Scholar. He edited the History of Philosophy Quarterly, was a founding editor of Magic, Ritual and Witchcraft and has served on the boards of a number of other journals.
