Dr. Yan Zhuang is currently the Young Chief Professor at Southeast University, and also the recipient of National Excellent Youth Science Foundation Program funding. She holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Nottingham (the UK), and was honored with the Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Award. Her research focuses on traffic geotechnical engineering, soft soil foundation treatment, and slope reinforcement engineering, etc. Prof. Zhuang has published 116 papers in international and national journals, including 53 academic papers indexed by the Web of Science (SCI), among which 4 papers are published on Géotechnique. She has published 23 national patents and 5 software copyrights. Furthermore, she has completed 13 government granted projects and 10 major consultancy projects in Geotechnical Engineering. Based on the research achievements, Prof. Zhuang has won 9 Excellent Achievement Awards for Scientific Research, including the Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, the Shanxi Provincial Natural Science Award, the Ministry of Education Youth Science Award, the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics & Engineering Qian Qihu Award and the China Highway and Transportation Society Youth Science and Technology Award, etc.
