Experiential Learning in Geography

Jonathan Wessell is an Instructor of Geography for the past 25 years at colleges and universities throughout Michigan. His teaching focus is primarily in Human Geography having taught World Regional Geography, Cultural Geography, and regional courses in North American and Latin American Geography. He has just as much experience teaching Physical Geography and Environmental Studies in more recent years. In the past, he has had opportunity to assist or run field courses to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, and recently incorporated service learning into his Environmental Science with an ongoing project for the college. Jonathan Wessell has a BS in Geography & History from Central Michigan University where he later taught. He has a MA in Geography from Western Michigan University where he later taught. He also nearly completed a PhD in Education with a focus on Geography from Walden University. Serving the field for the past decade as Chair and Vice Chair of Geography Education for the American Association of Geographers (AAG) has led to opportunity for publication of his first edited book on Experiential Learning in Geography, also published by Springer.
