Binyam Mogessie studied Biochemistry and Cell Biology as an undergraduate at Jacobs University Bremen, Germany, and earned his Ph.D. in Cell Biology from the Institute of Cancer Research, University of London. He conducted postdoctoral research at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge and the Max Planck Institute in Göttingen, where he discovered novel functions of F-actin in chromosome segregation. In 2019, he established his independent research group at the University of Bristol as a Wellcome Trust and Royal Society Sir Henry Dale Fellow and HFSP Young Investigator. In 2022, he joined Yale University as an Assistant Professor of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology & OBGYN.
