Graduate Medical Education in Pediatrics

The editors have a wide range of experiences and national standing in pediatrics and graduate medical education. All editors have served 7 or more years as Pediatric Residency Program Directors. After four years in that role, she was appointed the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs for the UWSOM.  She is current Chair of the Residency Review Committee for Pediatrics for the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and a former member of the Board of the Association of Pediatric Program Directors (APPD). Patricia Poitevien, MD, MSc, FAAPVice President for Campus LifeAssociate Professor of PediatricsBrown UniversityImmediate Past President, Association of Pediatric Program Directors Dr. Poitevien served as Program Director for the pediatric residency program at New York University Grossman School of Medicine (5 years), Program Director for the pediatric residency program at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University (4 years) and then as Senior Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University (3 years) before becoming Vice President for Campus Life at Brown University. She is the Immediate Past-President of the Association of Pediatric Program Directors (APPD). Joanna Lewis, MDDirector, Pediatric Residency ProgramAdvocate Children’s Hospital – Park Ridge Dr. Lewis serves as Program Director (since 2014) for the pediatric residency program at Advocate Children’s Hospital. She is the current Vice-Chair of the Residency Review Committee for Pediatrics for the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and a current member of the Board of the Association of Pediatric Program Directors (APPD). Rebecca Blankenburg, MD, MPHClinical Professor, Pediatric Hospital Medicine Associate Dean of Graduate Medical EducationDesignated Institutional Official Stanford School of Medicine Dr. Blankenburg served as the Pediatrics Residency Associate Program Director (6 years), Program Director (7 years), Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship Director (3 years), Associate Chair of Education in Pediatrics (8 years), and Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education (2 years) before becoming the Associate Dean of GME and Designated Institutional Official for Stanford School of Medicine. She is a Past President of the Association of Pediatric Program Directors (APPD).
