This monograph reimagines Matthew 12:15–32, moving beyond traditional Christological interpretations to uncover the vibrant and often neglected role of the Spirit. Through integrated intertextual approach—which weaves together authorial purpose, textual depth, and interpretive innovation—the author unveils how Matthew’s vision of the Spirit is deeply anchored in Old Testament traditions yet dynamically shaped by the cultural and theological milieu of its era. Using Stefan Alkier’s method of intertextual analysis, Dr. Lian Muan Kham Suante highlights the timing of the Spirit’s appearance in the Gospel of Matthew during conflict and crisis. He demonstrates its agency as a partner to God’s servant in the healing and restoration of creation and its critical role in establishing the presence of righteousness in an inclusive community.
