Dr. Mithun Kuniyil Ajith Singh is an engineering scientist with extensive experience in preclinical and clinical photoacoustic and ultrasound imaging. He is currently the Research and Business Development Manager at CYBERDYNE Inc., The Netherlands, where he initiates and coordinates international collaborations with leading research institutions worldwide. His primary focus is on bridging the gap between laboratory research and clinical translation of LED-based photoacoustic imaging technology. He currently serves on the editorial board of SPIE’s flagship journal, the Journal of Biomedical Optics, as an Associate Editor. Dr. Mithun obtained his PhD from the University of Twente, The Netherlands, in 2016 under the supervision of Professor Wiendelt Steenbergen, specializing in laser-diode-based photoacoustic system design and image optimization. He has authored and co-authored over 100 scientific publications, including journal papers, book chapters, and conference proceedings, with a primary focus on advancing affordable and accessible photoacoustic imaging technologies. He has also guest-edited special journal issues dedicated to affordable photoacoustic imaging and served as the editor of the first comprehensive book on LED-based photoacoustic imaging, published by Springer Nature in 2020. Through his research, publications, and collaborative initiatives, Dr. Mithun continues to play a leading role in shaping the global landscape of cost-effective, translational photoacoustic imaging.
