Ali Fahir Özer graduated from Atatürk University School of Medicine in 1976. He did his neurosurgery residency between 1977 and 1982 at Hacettepe University School of Medicine. He obtained his Associate Professor degree in 1988 and full-professorship in 1994. He served as the head of neurosurgery department in Kocaeli University between 1994 and 1995. He has been working at the neurosurgery department of the American Hospital since 1995 and is currently a faculty at Koc University School of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery. Since 2018, he is Adjunct Professor in Bioengineering and Orthopaedic Surgery Colleges of Engineering and Medicine, University of Toledo (OH, USA). Professor Özer is member of Eurospine and North American Spine Society. He also is member of the advisory board and reviewer of sevarel journals, e. g. The Spine Journal, World Neurosurgery, BMC Musculoskelatal Journal, Journal of Turkish Neurosurgery, Case Reports in Orthopedics etc. He has authored or co-authored over 230 articles and 46 book chapters, and he also editor of 9 books. Prof. Özer’s research mainly focuses on biomechanics  and dynamic stabilization of spine. He had patented Orthrus Dynamic Spinal System, Safinaz Dynamic Screw and Cervical Disc Prosthesis. Mario Di Silvestre attended the Scoliosis Center of the Pisa University Orthopedic Clinic (Pisa, Italy) during his Orthopedics and Traumatology residency, directed by Prof. Pier Giorgio Marchetti. After his specialization, in 1984 he moved to the Scoliosis Center at the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute in Bologna (taly), becoming more actively involved in spine surgery under the guidance of Prof. Leonardo Gui and Prof. Romolo Savini. He was then hired back to the Rizzoli Institute in 1989, first as an orthopedics and traumatology medical assistant, then as an orthopedics and traumatology hospital assistant, and finally as a medical director of the Spine Surgery Department. Since 2017, he is responsible of the Spine Surgery at the Santa Corona Hospital in Pietra Ligure (Savona, Italy). He has many publications published in international journals and many papers presented at international meetings. Vijay K. Goel  is professor of Orthopaedic Bioengineering and Co-Director of the Engineering Center for Orthopaedic Research Excellence (E-CORE), Department  of Bioengineering and Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Toledo, Toledo (OH, USA). He has been active as professor of bioengineering over four decades, and is a globally recognized biomechanical researcher and mentor of a large number of scientis and clinicians.  He is a prolific contributor to device development as an industrial advisor/entrepreneur, and a dedicated society-benefactor in developing treatments of orthopedic ailments Deniz Erbulut, PhD, received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Melbourne in 2010. After faculty appointments in the USA and Turkey, he joined HBI as a senior research fellow in 2020. He gained about 10 years of research experience in biomechanics for understanding clinically relevant issues in medicine. Using a combination of experimental and computational tools, he performs research in in-vivo/in vitro joint mechanics, human motion, musculoskeletal modelling, computational biomechanics and spinal/orthopaedic implant development and testing. Dr. Erbulut holds three orthopaedic implant patents for the USA and most European countries. He has been a principal investigator for several projects, teaching graduate and undergraduate level courses in the biomedical and mechanical engineering departments at various universities, and supervised several master and PhD students as a principal advisor.
