Erica Bowers, Ed.D., is a professor in the department of Literacy and Reading Education at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) and is the Director of Faculty Development and Academic Technology. Erica previously served as Director of the CSUF Reading Center, guiding graduate students in their work with striving readers. She has coauthored numerous articles focusing on academic English, literacy coaching, literacy assessment, and reading motivation. Erica is the author of What the Science of Reading Says: Literacy Strategies for Grades 1–2 and the coauthor of Building Academic Language Through Content-Area Text. She is a former elementary school teacher and reading specialist. Laura Keisler, Ed.D., is an assistant professor in the department of Literacy and Reading Education at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). Her research and teaching interests include literacy instruction, teacher preparation, and professional development. In addition to teaching, Laura trains teachers nationwide on best practices for literacy instruction. She presents at national conferences, has published articles on a variety of literacy topics, and is the the author of What the Science of Reading Says: Literacy Strategies for Grades 3–5 and What the Science of Reading Says: Literacy Strategies for Secondary Grades. She is the coauthor of Building Academic Language Through Content-Area Text. Laura is a former classroom teacher and literacy coach.
