Description du livre
The present study analyses the war in Cameroon within a broader inquiry into Cameroon’s independence and its Cold War-era break from French colonialism, covering the period from 1945 to 1971. Relatively unknown in France itself, this obscured history has long sought recognition in Cameroon. Here, 14 historians from both countries have worked in tandem to collect, analyse, and relay historical archives and living testimony, in some cases declassified or presented for the occasion, in order to better understand the repressive measures undertaken by army and administration alike in the war France waged on Cameroon, before and after the sovereign state’s proclamation of independence on 1 January 1960.
