Mayte López Atanes is an MD specialized in Psychiatry at the Cruces University Hospital, Barakaldo, Spain, where she has worked since 2018. She specializes in Psychopharmacology and holds a Master's Degree in Biostatistics from the University of Seville, Spain. She is currently enrolled in a PhD program at the University of the Basque Country under the supervision of Dr. Sáenz-Herrero. She collaborates with the Leibniz Institute of Epidemiology, in Bremen (Germany), researching the presence of gender bias in mental health research and psychiatric diagnosis. As an author, she has published multiple posters in both national and international congresses. She has also contributed several articles to magazines worldwide, focusing on gender bias, psychopharmacology in women, and gender and mental health during the coronavirus pandemic. She also collaborates in educational programs promoting the inclusion of gender in medicine and the prevention of violence against women.Marga Sáenz-Herrero is an MD and PhD graduate from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, and currently works as a psychiatrist at the Cruces University Hospital in Bilbao, Spain. She is a specialist in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Integrative Psychotherapy. Additionally, she has been an Associate Professor at the University of the Basque Country since 2009. She received a grant to study at the Eating Disorders Program with Professor Katherine Halmi at New York Hospital, USA. As an author, she has published over 20 international posters and communications, both nationally and internationally, and contributed to more than 50 presentations at national and international congresses. She has also contributed several articles to magazines worldwide and 20 book chapters. In 2015, she edited "Psychopathology in Women, Incorporating the Gender Perspective into Descriptive Psychopathology" with Springer. Her recent research focuses on the gender perspective in clinical psychopathology and psychotherapeutic approaches in daily clinical practice. She collaborates as a researcher at Cibersam, led by Ana González-Pinto, and is interested in promoting research projects that include the gender dimension, which has not been included in scientific research thus far. She is currently a member of the Neuropsychiatric Association of Euskadi, Vice President of the Society of History and Philosophy of Psychiatry, a vocal member of the Spanish Society of Psychiatry, and part of the advisory board of the International Association for Women’s Mental Health (IAWMH). Since 2014, she has coordinated Equality Conferences in Bilbao, promoting Equality in Psychiatry. She leads the Gender Violence Basic Course for Health Workers in Osakidetza-Basque Health Service, Spain and is part of a Preventing Gender Violence Group. She is currently participating in the development of standards applicable worldwide to services for Victims of Violence against Women, with Emakunde, the Basque Institute for Women, and the Basque Government, through a collaboration agreement with the United Nations Project.
