Ajay Chowdhury est entrepreneur dans les nouvelles technologies. Après une enfance entre Calcutta et Bombay, il poursuit ses études aux États-Unis. Installé à Londres depuis 1986, il y a fondé une compagnie de théâtre et dirigé The Merchant of Vembley (un Marchand de Venise au sein des communautés indo-pakistanaises). Il signe là son premier roman, récompensé en 2019 par le Debut Crime Writing Award. Les droits audiovisuels en ont été acquis par la BBC.
