Née en 1912 près de Windsor, Mary Wesley, cosmopolite et bohème, a vécu en France, en Italie et en Allemagne. C'est à l'âge de soixante-dix ans qu'elle publie son premier roman, La Resquilleuse (EHO, 2011), entamant une carrière aussi féconde que tardive. Elle est décédée en 2002. Les Éditions Héloïse d'Ormesson ont également publié Rose, sainte nitouche (2009), Les Raisons du cœur (2010), La Pelouse de camomille(2013) et Sucré, salé, poivré (2015).
