Michael Collins est né à Limerick en Irlande en 1964. Il a fait ses études en Irlande et aux États-Unis et a obtenu son doctorat à l’Université de l’Illinois à Chicago. Son œuvre a reçu un accueil enthousiaste de la critique internationale et a été traduite en plusieurs langues. Son premier livre a été salué par le New York Times comme un des meilleurs livres de 1993, sa nouvelle « The End of the World » a reçu le prix de la Meilleure nouvelle américaine. Au total, il est l’auteur de sept romans
