Né en 1912, décédé en 1990, Patrick White est le lauréat du prix Nobel de littérature de 1973 et l’unique écrivain australien à avoir été distingué par cette récompense. Il est l’auteur de nombreux recueils de nouvelles, pièces de théâtre et romans dont Eden-ville, Défauts dans le miroir, Des morts et des vivants, tous publiés en France chez Gallimard et pour l’essentiel disponibles dans les collections « Du monde entier » et « L’Imaginaire ».
